Arup – Joining the Transport Planning Team

Arup’s purpose, shared values, and collaborative approach have set them apart for over 80 years, shaping how they contribute to building a better world. You will be joining Arup’s Transport Planning team—a multidisciplinary group including transport planners, engineers, mathematicians, data scientists, and geographers. This team provides a crucial element of Arup’s services, working with diverse clients across public and private sectors. Their work supports:

  • The development of new transport infrastructure
  • Enhancement of existing transport systems
  • Strategic travel demand management programmes that influence behaviour and outcomes

Strategic transport modelling is at the core of their approach, delivering essential evidence for scheme feasibility, business cases, appraisals, and environmental assessments.

The Opportunity

Arup is seeking an experienced Senior Transport Modeller to help shape and advance their strategic transport modelling capability. This role is suited to individuals passionate about solving complex transport challenges through deep analytical thinking and evidence-based decision-making.

Core Responsibilities

You will act as a strategic transport modelling technical lead, supporting Arup’s multidisciplinary teams. Your responsibilities include:

  • Specifying, designing, and delivering modelling work across various client contexts.
  • Developing high-quality strategic models, interpreting results, and crafting clear, compelling narratives to communicate insights effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  • Contributing to client engagement, proposal development, and capability growth.
  • Supporting junior colleagues and collaborating with teams across Arup to apply transport modelling principles to specialty domains.
  • Influencing modelling practices and shaping future transport solutions, given Arup’s strong pipeline of work with national, regional, and local clients.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
