Senior Transport Modeller
Arup – Joining the Transport Planning Team

- Enhancement of existing transport systems
- Strategic travel demand management programmes that influence behaviour and outcomes
Strategic transport modelling is at the core of their approach, delivering essential evidence for scheme feasibility, business cases, appraisals, and environmental assessments.
The Opportunity
Arup is seeking an experienced Senior Transport Modeller to help shape and advance their strategic transport modelling capability. This role is suited to individuals passionate about solving complex transport challenges through deep analytical thinking and evidence-based decision-making.
Core Responsibilities
You will act as a strategic transport modelling technical lead, supporting Arup’s multidisciplinary teams. Your responsibilities include:
- Specifying, designing, and delivering modelling work across various client contexts.
- Developing high-quality strategic models, interpreting results, and crafting clear, compelling narratives to communicate insights effectively to diverse stakeholders.
- Contributing to client engagement, proposal development, and capability growth.
- Supporting junior colleagues and collaborating with teams across Arup to apply transport modelling principles to specialty domains.
- Influencing modelling practices and shaping future transport solutions, given Arup’s strong pipeline of work with national, regional, and local clients.

Is this role right for you?
Arup seeks strategic transport modellers driven by insight, quality, and influence. Ideal candidates will bring:
- A passion for developing and communicating meaningful, high-value insights.
- In-depth experience in strategic transport modelling, working with tools such as:
- SATURN
- VISUM
- EMME
- CUBE
- A strong working knowledge of Department for Transport (DfT) Transport Appraisal Guidance (TAG) and its application in appraisals and business cases.
- Ability to simplify and articulate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Experience supporting colleagues, assisting in proposal submissions, and delivering timely, cost-effective work.
