Job Title: Senior Transport Planner
Location: Woking
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading independent multidisciplinary consultancy in the search for a Senior Transport Planner to join its growing team in Woking.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Transport Planner looking to take the next step in their career with a well-established consultancy delivering high-quality development planning projects across the UK. You'll join a collaborative team working on a wide range of schemes, from strategic masterplanning through to planning applications and project delivery, with genuine opportunities for professional development and career progression.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering transport planning advice across a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, mixed-use, and strategic development projects, working closely with clients, local authorities, and multidisciplinary design teams.
The Role
- Prepare and review a range of technical reports, including Access Appraisals, Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and WCHAR/ATZ Assessments.
- Undertake junction capacity modelling, carry out initial CAD design work including Swept Path Analysis, and provide transport planning advice throughout the planning process.
- Liaise with clients, local authorities, and wider project teams, attending meetings and public consultation events, and working collaboratively with colleagues across the transport planning team to deliver successful outcomes for clients.

About You
- A minimum of two years UK Transport Planning experience.
- Experience preparing Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and other development planning reports.
- Knowledge of TRICS, TEMPro, and Junctions 9 (ARCADY/PICADY), with experience of LinSig, GIS, or microsimulation software being advantageous.
- Experience undertaking junction capacity assessments and an understanding of highway design principles.
- CAD experience, including Swept Path Analysis, would be beneficial.
- Excellent analytical, report writing, and communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities effectively.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to working with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
A relevant degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Planning, Mathematics, or a related discipline would be advantageous. Working towards or holding TPS Professional Development Scheme accreditation or another relevant professional qualification would also be welcomed.
