Senior Transport Planner – Development Planning

Location: London (Hybrid)
Salary: Competitive + Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join a growing Development Planning team in London. You'll play a key role in delivering transport planning advice for a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, mixed-use, education, healthcare, and regeneration projects across the capital and wider UK.

Working alongside developers, architects, planners, and local authorities, you'll lead the preparation of technical transport documents, provide strategic advice throughout the planning process, and mentor junior members of the team. This role offers excellent career progression, the chance to work on high-profile developments, and the opportunity to make a real impact on the built environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of transport planning projects from inception through to planning approval.
  • Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Delivery & Servicing Plans, Construction Logistics Plans, and other supporting transport documents.
  • Undertake transport impact assessments and junction capacity analysis using industry-standard software.
  • Liaise with local authorities, clients, architects, and multidisciplinary design teams throughout the planning process.
  • Attend client meetings, design team meetings, and planning negotiations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to graduate and consultant-level transport planners.
  • Manage project programmes, budgets, and client expectations to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Support business development activities by preparing fee proposals and identifying new opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
  • Keep up to date with transport policy, planning legislation, and industry best practice, particularly within London boroughs and Transport for London (TfL) guidance.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
