About Camden Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Our residents and communities are at the heart of everything we do. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today and we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here’s where you can help decide a better future for us all.
We are also a leader in sustainable transport. At Camden, we’re not just designing streets – we’re reshaping the way people live, move and connect. We’re building a borough where walking, cycling, and sustainable travel are the norm, not the exception. This is your chance to be part of an ambitious and forward-thinking team taking forward some of the Borough’s most ambitious healthy streets schemes.
How You’ll Be Involved This role involves supporting and helping shape the delivery of two major initiatives: the Holborn Liveable Neighbourhood programme and the Better, Safer Kilburn scheme.
The Holborn LN programme [https://holbornln.commonplace.is/] (HLN) is an ambitious £50m+ project that will transform the area into safe, healthy, accessible streets and climate-resilient streets, while enhancing public spaces and supporting local businesses and attractions such as the British Museum. The HLN is currently in feasibility stage and we are gearing up for a public consultation in Autumn 2026.
The Better, Safer Kilburn scheme [https://kilburnhighroad.commonplace.is/] is a £12m project to make the town centre a safer and more attractive place to visit, improve air quality, encourage walking and cycling, and create a more pleasant and welcoming town centre. Working with neighbouring Boroughs Brent and Westminster, the scheme has been approved for delivery following consultation and is gearing up to implementation phases.
As a Senior Transport Planner, you will support the delivery of the Holborn Liveable Neighbourhood programme and Better Safer Kilburn scheme, project managing individual projects/parts of the schemes through the design, consultation, and implementation phases. You will coordinate with internal departments and external partners, including Transport for London, to ensure successful delivery. Your role will also involve conducting community engagement and consultation, ensuring inclusivity and effective outcomes, and contributing to strategic initiatives such as urban greening, public health improvements and high street renewal. You will prepare high-quality reports, manage budgets, and maintain financial oversight while driving innovative solutions in a dynamic environment. You will also manage the work of consultants, and may be required to mentor and oversee the work of TfL Placement Graduates.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
