Purpose & Scope of the Role
As a Senior Transport Planner within our Manchester-based Transport North team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, development-led transport planning solutions. Working across both private and public sector projects, you will contribute to a wide range of schemes including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
This role blends technical delivery with collaboration—producing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Environmental Impact Assessment inputs, while engaging with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams. You will also support junior colleagues and contribute to business development through client interaction and proposal preparation.

Technical Expertise
- Deliver robust Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and technical reports
- Apply transport modelling tools such as TRICS, TEMPro, Junctions, LinSIG and Transyt
- Interpret complex datasets to inform clear, evidence-based recommendations

Planning & Policy Knowledge
- Demonstrate strong understanding of UK planning processes
- Apply transport policy with a focus on sustainability and active travel
- Integrate environmental considerations into transport strategies

- Present technical information clearly in reports, meetings, and proposals

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
You will have relevant industry experience in transport planning, including preparation of Transport Assessments and Travel Plans. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential, with AutoCAD and GIS knowledge advantageous. A degree (or Masters) in transport planning, civil engineering, geography or a related field is required, with professional accreditation (CIHT, CILT, TPP or ICE) desirable.

Working Environment
This is a full-time role based in Manchester with hybrid working in place, typically combining office and home working. Flexible working arrangements are supported, with an expectation of regular in-office collaboration alongside opportunities for remote working.
