Senior Transport Planner - Solent
Senior Transport Planner – Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Solent Area Employer: Pegasus Group
About the Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Transport Planner to join our expanding Solent Transport Team at Pegasus Group. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse transport planning projects, delivering sustainable and high-quality developments from inception through implementation.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Transport Planner, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and leading all aspects of transport planning across the development lifecycle, from due diligence and site selection through to implementation.
- Preparing specialist transport assessments, including:
- Transport Statements/Assessments (meeting NPPF, DMRB, and other regulatory requirements)
- Access Strategies
- Travel Plans
- Construction Traffic Management Plans (CTMPs)
- Parking Strategies
- Sustainable Transport & Active Travel plans
- Contributions to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)
- Conducting technical modelling tasks, including:
- Junction modelling (using Junctions 11/Arcady/Picady and LinSig)
- Engaging with statutory bodies, S106 negotiations, and highway authorities to deliver robust, compliant solutions
- Collaborating closely with project teams, clients, and stakeholders, ensuring clear written and verbal communication of technical findings
- Delivering bespoke transport planning solutions across sectors:
- Residential
- Commercial/Retail
- Masterplanning projects

Required Knowledge & Expertise
We are looking for candidates with:
- A degree in a transport-related field (pStandard Awards in Town Planning or enabled route programmes are welcome, Q34 / D46/47 routes are not)
- Preference given to Master’s degree holders in Transport or relevant discipline
- Proficiency with TRICS database
- Expertise in TRANSYT, Juno/Advance, NABESSO, TecRoads, SkyScene, Demi Turner Highway, Nuffield WayLight, Osiris or similar software
- Strong technical skills in junction modelling (e.g., JUNET 11, Arcady/Picady, LinSig)
- In-depth knowledge of latest policy frameworks, including:
- National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF)
- Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB)
- Manual for Streets & Local Transport Notes (LTNs)
- TfL Protocols (if applicable), or relevant local highway authority guidelines
- Experience negotiating S106 agreements and liaising with council transport teams
- Excellent stakeholder and client management skills
