Job Purpose
To underwrite and grow a profitable portfolio in line with business plan across International/Lloyd’s, London, and UK markets. Provide underwriting advice, structure appropriate coverage, and secure business at a competitive premium.
Job Responsibilities
- Use authority granted in Underwriting Authority Statement to execute on the business plan
- Use technical expertise to enhance profitability of the account and add profitable new opportunities to the book.
- Assist in product development
- Develop and research business opportunities both through London Market brokers and Hartford International Offices.
- Keep abreast of development of claims within the book and liaise with the claims team as necessary
- Purchase facultative reinsurance within Hartford guidelines and authorities.
- Play an active role in management reporting of business plans & budgets
- Play an active role in the business planning process
- Contribute, as required, to the quarterly and annual reporting of underwriting results.
- Assist in defining and deploying the strategy
- Maintain & develop key stakeholder relations internally and externally
- Participate as required in various committees, including underwriting, delegated underwriting, operations and risk.
- Assist in further development of systems for the monitoring and reporting of aggregate exposures.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of technical pricing models.
- Play a role in the mentorship and education of other team members as required.
- Ensure compliance with Hartford best practice and policies and also Lloyd’s regulations at all times.
- Act in the capacity of a PRA/FCA Approved Person with responsibility for controlled functions and as such complying at all times with the PRA/FCA Statements of Principle for Approved Persons.
- Step up for the Portfolio Manager as required
