Senior Underwriter P&C

The Opportunity

We are currently hiring for a Senior Underwriter to be based in our Manchester office, to drive profitable growth and build strong broker partnerships. This is an opportunity for an experienced underwriting professional to contribute to the success of a high-performing underwriting team through their technical expertise, commercial judgement, and market knowledge. Due to an Internal Promotion, this position has opened up for the right candidate.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Risk Assessment & Underwriting: Review and assess complex submissions, applying underwriting authority and company guidelines alongside your technical expertise to determine risk acceptability and structure tailored solutions.

  • Pricing & Portfolio Management: Develop appropriate pricing strategies through financial and market analysis, ensuring profitable underwriting outcomes and consistently strong portfolio performance.

  • Broker Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers by providing quotations, managing negotiations, and delivering first-class service that supports business growth.

  • Market Development & Business Growth: Act as a strategic代表 for CNA Hardy within the broker market, promoting our product and service offerings, identifying new opportunities, and driving profitable new business acquisition.

  • Technical Leadership & Collaboration: Share expertise across the underwriting team, mentor colleagues where appropriate, and collaborate with senior stakeholders on complex or high-value risks.

What We're Looking For

  • Underwriting Expertise: Extensive technical underwriting knowledge, with a proven track record in assessing and managing complex commercial insurance risks.

  • Commercial Acumen: Skilled ability to evaluate risks, recognise opportunities, and make well-judged business decisions while balancing growth with profitability.
