About the Team and Role
This role involves front-line responsibility for developing and managing a profitable portfolio of specialty reinsurance business. This role will work closely with Damien Smith, the Head of International Property and Specialty Reinsurance.
We would like to expand the current portfolio further – this focuses on Cyber, Agriculture, Nuclear, and Surety, with some exposure to K&R, Terrorism, Wildfire Liability, and Entertainment. Developing this portfolio is a key part of our strategy.
We are looking for someone who would be able to develop this role from Senior Underwriter to Line Underwriter.
The successful candidate will do this by:
- Continuing to develop the high-performing Specialty Reinsurance portfolio, which we are planning to grow from $15m to $30m GWP in 2026.
- Bringing a thoughtful approach to underwriting, both on a deal-by-deal basis and in terms of overall portfolio construction, with a mix of technical and commercial skills.
- Delivering our business plan profit, Net Combined Ratio, and Return on Capital.
- Evaluating other parts of the specialty universe and then executing on the chosen plan.
- Delivering exceptional day-to-day client service and relationship management, providing thoughtful and robust underwriting and analytics insights to brokers and clients.
- Taking a key role in marketing and business development activities across the product segments, with an eye on creative new opportunities for Inigo.
- Working closely and collaboratively with other members of the Reinsurance team, including our analytics, claims, and exposure management colleagues.
