Senior P&C Underwriter (Team Lead – SME / Online Platform)
Location: London (4 days office-based)
Salary: Circa £90,000 + bonus + benefits
The Opportunity
A well-established and growing insurance platform is looking to hire a Senior P&C Underwriter into a team lead / player-coach role within its London office.
This role sits within a high-volume, digitally traded SME book, providing cover for businesses such as shops, pubs, restaurants, and other commercial premises.
It’s an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take a first or second step into leadership, while staying close to the underwriting and developing coaching experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Underwriting SME Property & Casualty risks via an online trading platform
- Managing a portfolio of high-volume, fast-paced business (new & renewal)
- Acting as a technical referral point for a team of 6 underwriters
- Coaching and supporting the team on underwriting decisions and platform usage
- Helping maintain underwriting discipline, consistency, and service standards
- Supporting the Head of Underwriting with day-to-day team oversight
- Building strong broker relationships within a delegated / trading environment

What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience in SME / Commercial P&C underwriting
- Exposure to e-trade / online trading platforms
- Experience mentoring, coaching, or supporting junior team members
- Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-moving environment
- Strong technical judgement with a pragmatic, commercial approach
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
