Senior Practitioner – Skegness Urgent Treatment Centre
About the Role
Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) is seeking a Senior Practitioner to join the Skegness Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC), where you will deliver face-to-face consultations and provide expert care to patients in both minor illness and minor injury scenarios.
We are recruiting dynamic individuals with strong skills in minor illness and minor injury management, capable of working collaboratively as part of a team comprising Senior and Urgent Care Practitioners, Associate Clinical Practitioners (ACPs), and Health Care Support Workers (HCSWs).
This is a critical role providing a 24/7, 7-day service to the Skegness community, requiring the delivery of comprehensive patient care—including seeing, treating, assessing, managing, discharging, or referring patients across all age groups to appropriate LCHS services or partner services across Lincolnshire.
Occasionally, you may also support wider urgent care services, including home visits and the Clinical Assessment Service (CAS), with full access to remote and on-site GP support, alongside well-established referral pathways for specialist interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver 24/7 care in a fast-paced urgent treatment setting at Skegness UTC, covering both minor illness and minor injury consultations.
- Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients of all ages, ensuring safe and effective decision-making in line with national guidance.
- Discharge patients appropriately or refer to other NHS services or specialists (e.g., community services, hospital clinics, or other UTCs).
- Support multidisciplinary team (including GP-assisted remote or in-person consultations) and partake in training uphold the highest standards of care.
- Occasionally assist in supplementary urgent care needs, including the Clinical Assessment Service (CAS) and home visiting.
- Adapt to flexible, responsive working patterns, blending on-site hours with extended, 24/7 availability as required.

Person Specification
- Qualifications or equivalent healthcare experience:
- A recognised qualification in nursing, para-medical practice, or urgent care (e.g., NMC registered nurse, paramedic, or ACP).
- Demonstrated experience in minor illness, minor injury assessment, and patient management.
- Speedy thinking and competence under pressure in fast-paced healthcare settings to diagnose and treat accurately.
- Strong communication skills—ability to interact with diverse patients, parents, and healthcare professionals confidently.
- Collaborative mindset—capable of supporting a multidisciplinary team, merging independent judgement with collective care pathways.
- Proven ability to balance flexibility—with an understanding of working shifts, evenings, weekends, and revised participation in key periodical support roles.
- Comfort working across age ranges, including pediatrics, adults, and the elderly, with culturally sensitive communication.
- Necessary applicable registration and fitness-to-practice accreditation from regulating bodies like the NMC, HCPC.
