Job Description
We are looking for a Senior UX Researcher at AJ Bell to help shape the future of our D2C (Direct-to-consumer) experience. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our products by helping AJ Bell better understand our customers and make smarter, insight-driven decisions that enhance their experience.
Reporting to the UX Research Lead, you will lead complex, higher-risk, and strategically significant research across our D2C proposition, working closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, and other stakeholders to uncover meaningful insight and shape decision-making.
Working within an established UX Research function, you will contribute to a growing body of customer understanding while helping to raise the quality, consistency, and impact of research through your expertise and judgement. You will also collaborate with other insight and research specialists across AJ Bell, helping ensure that different perspectives on customer behaviour, needs, and opportunities inform better decisions across the business.
This role combines hands-on research delivery with the opportunity to influence thinking, improve understanding of customer needs, and contribute to the continued maturity of UX Research at AJ Bell.
Key responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end UX research across complex or higher-risk problem spaces within our D2C proposition.
- Translate product, customer, and business challenges into clear and effective research approaches.
- Design and deliver qualitative and mixed-method research using the most appropriate methods for the context and research objectives.
- Work closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, and other stakeholders to ensure customer insight meaningfully informs decisions.
- Support colleagues in planning and conducting research where additional expertise or guidance is beneficial.
- Communicate research findings clearly and credibly, articulating evidence, implications, risks, opportunities, and trade-offs.
- Contribute research outputs to our research repository and help build a transparent, reusable understanding of customer needs and behaviours over time.
- Promote high standards of research quality, ethics, and customer-centred thinking through day-to-day practice and collaboration.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
