Our client is a busy, well-established independent garage dedicated to delivering dealership-standard workmanship with a friendly, community-focused service. Unlike other main dealers, they work on a massive variety of vehicle makes and models. They pride ourselves on a clean workshop, an honest approach to repairs, and investing in the latest diagnostic tools.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Vehicle Technician to join our client's close-knit team. You will be the go-to expert for complex diagnostics and advanced repairs. This role requires an adaptable mechanic who thrives on variety, enjoys problem-solving without manufacturer shortcuts, and takes pride in mentoring junior technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- All-Makes Diagnostics: Diagnose complex electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic faults across diverse vehicle makes and models.
- Advanced Repairs: Complete major mechanical work, including engine rebuilds, cambelts, clutches, gearboxes, and suspension overhauls.
- Routine Servicing: Perform efficient vehicle servicing, maintenance, and multi-point vehicle health checks.
- MOT Testing: Conduct MOT tests (if qualified) and handle subsequent failure repairs efficiently.
- Quality Assurance: Road-test vehicles and inspect completed work to guarantee first-time fixes and maximum safety.
- Team Mentorship: Support and guide junior technicians and apprentices with difficult diagnostics or tricky repair procedures.
- Workshop Efficiency: Maintain a clean, organized bay and ensure all workshop tools and diagnostic software are looked after.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
