Team/Role Overview

Are you ready to help shape the future of global trade? Operating at the heart of the global economy, Citi's Core Trade Product Management Team connects clients, markets, and opportunities through one of the industry's most extensive and established trade networks. What you’ll do

The Core Trade Product Management Team is responsible for defining the strategic direction, product vision, portfolio management, and commercial performance of Citi's global Core Trade business. Operating as a highly connected global team, we partner across regions and functions to drive innovation, enhance client experiences, and unlock new opportunities for growth.

Our product suite includes Guarantees, Import and Export Letters of Credit, Documentary Collections and a range of supporting trade solutions used by corporations, financial institutions, and commercial clients worldwide. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in defining the future of the Core Trade franchise.

Working closely with Product Partners, Sales, Operations, Technology, Finance, Risk & Controls, and clients, you will identify emerging opportunities, develop market-leading solutions, and ensure our offering remains competitive in a rapidly changing landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the strategic direction of the Core Trade Product portfolio, leveraging data, market intelligence and client insights to develop forward-looking solutions that support growth, client needs, and market leadership.
  • Design innovative products and capabilities that anticipate client needs, leverage emerging market trends, and deliver differentiated value.
  • Identify emerging opportunities and translate market intelligence into product enhancements, new capabilities, and commercial growth initiatives.
  • Challenge traditional approaches and bring creative thinking to the development of next-generation Trade Services solutions.
  • Ensure Product Programmes and Policies are optimised, scalable and positioned to support future business growth.
  • Lead product and process enhancements, strategic change initiatives, and product rollouts across new and existing markets.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for Core Trade across the organisation and directly with clients, providing thought leadership and product expertise.
  • Represent Citi at client engagements and industry forums, helping shape industry thinking and strengthen Citi's market position.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
