About the Role
Morningstar DBRS’s Fundamental Ratings Team is seeking a highly motivated Senior Vice President with deep expertise in Asset Finance to join its Credit Practices Group.
The ideal candidate should bring:
- At least 15 years of experience, ideally at a rating agency with a focus on Asset Finance sectors (e.g., Project Finance, PPP, Infrastructure).
- Strong collaboration skills to engage with rating teams and ensure consistent methodology application.
This role provides responsibility for strategic credit leadership, methodology enhancement, and industry thought leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a subject-matter expert (SME) for Asset Finance teams, supporting:
- Project Finance, PPP, and Infrastructure credits
- Cross-sector themes and macroeconomic credit risks
- Provide Sets guidance on complex credit issues, including:
- Application of methodologies and credit frameworks
- Assessing global/regional macroeconomic trends and sector influences
- Lead or participate in Rating Committees, ensuring coherent decision-making
- Identify emerging risks and systemic credit trends, sharing insights across the organisation
- Support the development/refinement of Morningstar DBRS methodologies for multiple asset classes
- Contribute to thought leadership initiatives (publications, conferences, stakeholder engagement)

Requirements
Professional Experience
- Minimum 15 years (preferably at a rating agency) in fundamental credit assessment
- Strong expertise in Asset Finance (including Project Finance, PFI/PPP, Infrastructure)
- Prior experience in:
- Lending institutions, private credit platforms, or comparable organisations
- Methodology training/standardisation for analytical teams
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Deep understanding of credit theory and financial analysis frameworks
- Ability to apply rigorous research methods with meticulous attention to detail
- Proficient in managing multiple deadlines without sacrificing quality
- Strong interpersonal skills, capable of mentoring teams and fostering collaboration
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field (recommended: MSc, MBA, or CFA)
Soft Skills
- Proven ability to synthesise complex analyses for senior stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Collaborative mindset with a commitment to thought leadership
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: GBP 134,700.00 – 195,566.66 (negotiable based on qualifications/experience)
- Bonus target: 30% of base salary (subject to performance)
- Work environment: Hybrid model (4 days in-office per week, designed for inclusivity and collaboration)
