About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled VMware professional to join our Infrastructure Services team. This Senior VMware (VCF) Engineer role involves:
- Designing, deploying, managing, and optimizing cloud and virtualization environments across public, private, and hybrid cloud platforms.
- Working with servers, storage, networks, containers, middleware, databases, and virtualization solutions.
- Ensuring high availability, performance, and security of DXC’s infrastructure while supporting cloud migration, automation, and modernization initiatives.
Key Focus Areas:
- Blending deep technical expertise with operational leadership for enterprise-grade virtualization, cloud, and server platforms.
- Managing complex project deployments, driving automation, and ensuring platform resilience across secure hybrid environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, configure, and optimize VMware virtualization technologies (e.g., VCF 5.x & higher).
- Deploy and configure:
- VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM)
- VMware Aria Suite tools:
- vRealize Operations
- vRealize Automation
- Log Insight
- VMware NSX
- Work with cross-functional teams to design scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across storage, networking, and compute environments.
- Implement automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools like Ansible, PowerShell, or frameworks such as Terraform.
- Document system designs (High-Level Designs / Low-Level Designs), configurations, policies, and procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other IT teams.
- Apply critical technical thinking to resolve complex infrastructure challenges.
Requirements
Eligibility Criteria
- Sole UK national.
- Hold or be eligible for high-level UK government security clearance.
- Available in (
excessive wording stripped) commute distance to Erskine or Newcastle.

Experience & Technical Proficiencies
- 6+ years in cloud or virtualization roles.
- Strong expertise with VMware VCF (specific versions 5.x+ or higher).
- Familiarity with public cloud platforms, notably AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of networking, storage solutions, and Active Directory in cloud environments.
- Experience with automation tools, including:
- Terraform
- Ansible
- PowerShell
- Python
- A foundational understanding of IT security best practices, identity management, and compliance.
- Proven troubleshooting prowess and adaptability for fast-paced environments.
