We’re seeking a bold, detail-oriented professional to join our dynamic Water Team as a Senior Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller, with opportunities to work in UK or Ireland offices under a flexible hybrid model.
About the Role
Imagine leading cutting-edge wastewater modelling to transform the UK’s water infrastructure, from flood alleviation and pollution reduction to Blue-Green infrastructure and nature-based solutions. AECOM’s team of 700 UK & Ireland Water experts deliver world-class project work—from Understanding Business Cases to hydraulic modelling, drainage strategies, and environmental regulations. You’ll collaborate with industry leaders like Severn Trent, Anglian Water, Northern Ireland Water, and the Environment Agency to set industry standards and solve some of the world’s most pressing water challenges.
As a Senior Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller, you’ll drive technical innovation, mentorship, and strategic problem-solving, always bridging modelling expertise with real-world impact.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Delivery
- Build and verify hydraulic sewer models and integrated modelling frameworks for flood risk assessments and urban water management.
- Develop catchment-scale strategic solutions to address flooding and pollution risks, from scoping to final design.
- Advise on technical innovation, including new modelling tools and methodologies to solve client challenges.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and tender documents to clearly communicate results.

Leadership & Collaboration

Ideal Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Civil Engineering, GIS, Geography, or Water/Energy-related fields (or equivalent practical experience).
- Fluency in 1+ modelling platforms: Preferably Innovyze ICM or InfoWorks ICM for sewer/water systems.
- ArcGIS or MapInfo experience for geospatial data analysis.
- Minimum 5–7 years of post-qualification experience in water consultancy, preferably with innovative modelling techniques.
