About the Business Division
The Water Utilities Division is Mott MacDonald’s centre of excellence for responding to the UK and Ireland’s water and wastewater challenges. We deliver transformational projects, ensuring safe water supplies for future generations, preventing urban flooding, and improving the health of rivers and coastal environments.
Our multi-disciplinary teams provide services across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies to detailed design, and offer diverse, technically stimulating opportunities to all.
Overview of the Role
We’re seeking a driven, experienced Senior Wastewater Network Modeller to join our team of innovative network modellers, engineers, and project managers, delivering projects across the UK.
As a Senior Modeller, you’ll provide technical guidance on wastewater infrastructure projects, from feasibility through to detailed design, and contribute to innovation sprints, external conferences, and strategic direction. This role entails mentoring team members, managing projects, and presenting your work to clients and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering wastewater infrastructure projects of varying complexities
- Collaborating with clients to interpret model outputs and processes
- Mentoring and training graduate modellers for professional development
- Specifying and managing flow surveys
- Checking or leading model builds, verification, and optioneering projects
- Completing complex modelling tasks
- Reviewing technical reports and presentations
- Developing technical calculation outputs
- Optional: Project managing infrastructure projects (oversight of programme, commercial performance, and technical excellence)

Candidate Specification
Essential Requirements
- Ability to develop team relationships at all levels
- Collaborative delivery lead—planning and executing wastewater modelling projects of varying sizes
- Strong communication skills
- Proficient in InfoWorks ICM (and experience with GIS packages)
- Project Management experience (advantageous but not mandatory)
- Chartered status with a relevant professional institution (e.g., ICE or CIWEM)
- Excellent spreadsheet data analysis skills (e.g., MS Excel pivot tables or PowerBI)
- Advantageous: Programming skills in VBA or Python
