A Little More About Your Role…
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Waste Water Process Engineer to join our Water Engineering teams located in:
- Birmingham
- Bristol
- Manchester
- Liverpool
- London
- Newcastle
- Glasgow
Responsibilities
As an experienced Process Engineer within a multidisciplinary project design team, you will:
- Produce key process design deliverables, including:
- Optioneering studies
- Process calculations and mass balance
- Process flow diagrams
- Piping and instrumentation drawings
- Sketches
- Basis of design reports
- To achieve optimal project solutions
- Undertake outline or detailed process engineering design
- Conduct site visits for data acquisition and collaboration with site operators
- Provide technical input to procurement processes
- Support Project Managers in client discussions
- Engage with technology providers and vendors
- Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, SWIFT reviews
- Offer technical guidance, coaching, and supervision to junior staff
- Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure integration of process engineering into multidisciplinary projects
- Contribute to proposals, work scope, schedules, and budgets
- Liaise with clients (internal/external) to meet their needs

Requirements
Qualifications
- A Chemical or Environmental Engineering degree, MSc, or equivalent
- Professional registration (CEng) or commitment to ** Chartership within 12 months**
Skills & Experience
- Significant experience in delivering process engineering design for infrastructure projects, with leadership on key tasks or projects
- Proven expertise in the municipal water industry
- Ability to work independently on deliverables, including:
- Technical specifications, calculations, reports, datasheets
- Process control philosophies, P&IDs, mass balances
- Procurement documentation
- Experience in:
- Feasibility, concept, FEED, and detailed design in wastewater treatment
- Primary, secondary, tertiary treatments (filtration, clarification, chemical dosing, P-removal, ASP, MBBR, MBR)
- Circular economy and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) solutions
- Consultancy or engineering industry experience as a Process Engineer
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reports and presentations
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary meetings and represent WSP externally
- Willingness to travel and visit sites to assess operational performance safely
