Senior Water Process Scientist

From £58,350 dependent on skills and experience + car allowance

Permanent, full time (37 hours) with flexibility for part time
Lincoln / Louth / Brigg / Grantham/ Wing/ - 4 days per week on site

Dive into a world of opportunity, and join our team! This role will be critical in the delivery of optimum quality water to our customers from water treatment works across the region. You will provide senior technical/expert scientific advice to the business and your team, being a technical expert within the team. You will use your technical expertise to identify and mitigate risk ahead of time and develop effective solutions in mitigating risk. Asset optimisations will be planned and undertaken on site to enable effective and efficient water treatment onsite.

Working predominantly onsite, you will manage projects to provide effective and optimised water treatment to mitigate business risk, whilst maintaining wholesome water to our customers. You will be part of a Regional out of hours standby support for the business across the region.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead proactive and reactive water quality interventions across operational sites, driving optimisation strategies that balance regulatory compliance, customer safety, cost, and carbon considerations.
  • Act as a key water quality stakeholder within capital delivery and asset governance processes, identifying emerging risks, influencing investment decisions, and advising on water quality aspects for the commissioning of new and refurbished assets.
  • Be a recognised technical expert in water quality risk and process science, mentoring colleagues and increasing scientific knowledge, skill and competency of scientists and operational colleagues.
  • Continually seek to understand new ways of working and use different/new technology to support continuous improvement of our process risk profile.
  • Lead scientific aspects of Water Services Business Plan initiatives, mitigating operational, financial, and compliance risks.

What does it take to be successful?

  • Extensive industry experience in water quality, drinking water treatment or process science
  • Able to critically evaluate information to take tactical action
  • Excellent data interpretation skills
  • Interpersonal skills to build rapport with operational colleagues, whilst being able to positively challenge and communicate effectively
  • Demonstrable ability to mentor, coach and support those around you to improve their skills and understanding of water processes
  • Critical thinker who looks at information provided and will move forwards to develop a solution that provides outcomes aligned to business needs
