Job Title: Student Wellbeing & Engagement Coordinator (Designated Safeguarding Lead)

About the Role
You’ll lead the Student Wellbeing & Engagement function at the Centre, reporting to the Director of Campus Operations. This includes the operational management of Student Wellbeing & Engagement Officers while fulfilling the critical role of Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring full compliance with safeguarding regulations and the authority to escalate concerns.
Core Responsibilities:
Student Wellbeing & Safeguarding
- Oversee student welfare, safeguarding, Prevent duty, and enrichment programming, including related administration and secure record-keeping.
- Manage case load for Welfare and Student Experience Officers, ensuring equitable distribution and fair case resolution.
- Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead:
- Implement safeguarding protocols in line with Study Group policy and SOPs.
- Receive, assess, and escalate safeguarding concerns as required.
- Raise issues following safeguarding escalation policies.
- Monitor student whereabouts and coordinate related procedures.
- Create, approve, and implement Agreed Support Plans (ASPs), including Safety Plans and Exit Plans.
- Ensure timely escalation of concerns to the Student Experience Leader and Central Student Wellbeing team.
Student Engagement & Community Support
- Organise and coordinate induction, wellbeing, enrichment, and engagement activities, including:
- Developing related materials in collaboration with Senior Coordinator Progression.
- Promoting sense of community and transversal soft skills.
- Identify and implement enhancements to wellbeing and learning support using year-end performance data.
- Collaborate with Senior Coordinator Progression to align support interventions with student academic performance.
- Monitor progress and iterate support frameworks based on student feedback and data.

Operational & Systemic Excellence
- Contribute to governance and planning, including:
- Quarterly/Annual Safeguarding reviews.
- Annual Monitoring Reports.
- Centre Action Plans related to welfare and Student Experience Strategy.
- Mentor and supervise direct reports (Welfare & Enrichment Officers):
- Written and actionable performance objectives.
- Case reviews to enforce governance.
- Quarterly performance reviews.
- Staff development & retention:
- Set employee development objectives.
- Enourage participation in personal development activities.
- Lead hiring processes with Study Group compliance.
- Data-driven decision-making:
- Analyse dynamics from student feedback, engagement levels, and involvement metrics.
- Translate insights into continuous policy improvements.
- Represent the Centre in Student Experience and Wellbeing strategy meetings.
External Relationships
- Maintain holistic support strategies with ISC teams to ensure consistent welfare practices.
- Embed inclusive practice (modelling accessibility and equality).
- Support wellbeing communications via:

- Engagement initiatives across stakeholders.
*Additional duties may arise as indicated by the Student Experience Leader or Director, Campus Operations.
About You
Ideal candidates will meet all of the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (or comparable experience/expertise) that demonstrates independent judgement and leadership.
- Proven management experience (including any formal administration or supervisory training).
- Higher-level safeguarding certification, fully equipped to handle complex student safety issues.
- Eligibility and licensing to work in the UK education sector.
- Student-facing experience, demonstrating:
- Ability to develop and maintain a strong student experience culture.
- Skill in translating policies into accessible, meaningful support.
- Working in regulated, people-focused settings.
- Collaborative mindset:
- Experience developing outreach, induction, and community-building strategies.
- Cross-functional collaboration with teams (Academics, Admissions, etc.).
- Strong meeting facilitation skills, including governance sessions.
