# Critical – Internal Vacancy: Senior Wellbeing Practitioner (Eligibility: University of Leeds staff only)
Role Overview
This role is open to existing employees within the Wellbeing team at the University of Leeds.
Preliminary interview date: 11th August 2026
The Senior Wellbeing Practitioner will be a senior clinical role in the Student Wellbeing Service, combining direct student support (50% caseload), team leadership, and operational management. The post will cover deputising for the Assistant Head of Student Support (Wellbeing) and improving faculty alignment within existing academic structures.
Location & Working Terms
- Primary: On-campus base (University of Leeds).
- Typesetting: Hybrid-flexible. One in-office day/week (standard 9am–5pm), with adjustability for student-facing events (e.g., open days, offer-holder days).
- Key Constraint: Role shifts within core student support hours (8am–6pm, Mon–Fri).

The Service Context
The Student Wellbeing Service is a multi-disciplinary hub supporting students with psychological, emotional, and mental health concerns. Its offerings include:
- Triage appointments
- Therapeutic support contracts
- Psychoeducational/recovery groups
- **Billings to external specialists as required.

Integral Collaboration:
- Is part of the Student Experience and Support Directorate.
- Operates alongside the wider Student Experience portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duty
- Maintain a 50% FTE caseload (≈ 10 clinical hours/week), providing evidence-based support to students requiring therapeutic interventions.
Operational Leadership
- Depute for the Assistant Head of Student Support (Wellbeing) when necessary.
- Contribute to daily operational management of the Wellbeing Service, ensuring smooth coordination of offer referrals, operational improvements, and staffing alignment.
Faculty/Partner Engagement
- Strengthen cross-disciplinary ties between:
- Wellbeing Practitioners
- University faculties/schools
- Facilitate clearer communication between wellbeing provision, academic structures, and expectations, tackling potential misalignment or lack of engagement.

Flexibility Note
Fairness in scheduling means flexibility will be required for student-facing engagements only (e.g., outreach events, interconnected periods).
Final Terms
- Visa Consideration: The post could support sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route, subject to salary concessions for external applicants.
