Civil / Structural Senior Engineer

Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Civil / Structural Senior Engineer to join the team in Middlesbrough.

This role will involve supporting civil and structural engineering and design activities for projects, working collaboratively with Principal/Lead Engineers, project teams, clients and other disciplines to deliver high-quality, cost-effective engineering solutions.

Key Deliverables

  • To develop and prepare detailed civil and structural design documents, including layouts, reports and calculations.
  • To support Principal/Lead Engineers in reviewing and checking design deliverables.
  • To participate in site visits and surveys to gather information for design development.
  • To engage with cross-disciplinary teams and clients to ensure project milestones are met efficiently and safely.
  • To generate and present technical documentation and reports, sharing technical insights and project progress.
  • To uphold the highest standards of quality and safety in line with industry regulations and client requirements.
  • To contribute to identifying and delivering work process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • To deliver accurate and high-quality civil and structural design documentation.
  • To ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes and client requirements.
  • To maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements in civil and structural engineering.
  • To manage multiple tasks effectively and work independently while contributing positively to the wider project team.

  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering, such as an MEng or BEng (Hons), or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer with a relevant professional institution, or working towards Chartership.
  • Strong knowledge of civil and structural design principles.
  • Familiarity with STAAD Pro or similar design and analysis software.
  • Understanding of materials and construction processes used in civil and structural engineering.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and codes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
  • A self-starter who can also thrive in a team environment.
  • A commitment to ethical and professional standards.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for engineering and continuous personal development.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
