Senior/Principal EIA Consultant

Locations: Southampton, Bristol, Corsham, Birmingham and Lewes, United Kingdom

Your Responsibilities

You’ll leverage your expertise in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Management to:

  • Coordinate statutory EIA processes, non-statutory environmental assessments, and environmental due diligence for major development projects across major sectors—data centres, industrial, and property.
  • Apply knowledge of environmental consenting processes in the UK—from early due diligence and feasibility stages through to masterplanning, EIA development, and consent compliance.
  • Work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams, translating technical data into actionable sustainability recommendations.

Key Deliverables:

  • Project leadership: Manage environmental baseline data collection, interpretation, and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Technical report writing:
    • Conduct due diligence, screening & scoping reports, Environmental Statements, and other environmental assessments.
    • Coordinate spatial data, management, and presentation.
  • Business development & client engagement:
    • Support tender submissions, marketing, and proposal preparation.
    • Build client and stakeholder relationships at meetings and events.

As part of Ramboll’s UK Impact Assessment department—a key component of the Global Impact Assessment Service Line—you’ll operate in a fast-growing sector with over 300 environmental science professionals across 19 UK locations.

About You

Ramboll values continuous growth, and while the following experience is ideal, we encourage passion and potential over qualifications alone.

This role requires:

  • A degree in environmental sciences, environmental engineering, or related discipline—a master’s in environmental field adds significant advantage.
  • Demonstrated project delivery experience in EIA or environmental assessment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with experience liaising across:
    • internal teams
    • suppliers
    • diverse client groups at meetings and networking events.
  • A dedication to professional development and career progression.
