Senior Accounts Assistant
Location: Epping
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established accountancy practice in Epping that is seeking a talented Senior Accounts Assistant to join its friendly and professional team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an AAT-qualified professional or an experienced Qualified by Experience (QBE) candidate who enjoys a broad accounting role and wants to work closely with a diverse portfolio of clients. You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality financial services, helping businesses maintain compliance, improve financial visibility and achieve their goals. The successful candidate will have experience within Accountancy practice.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Accounts Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing statutory accounts for a varied client portfolio
- Managing bookkeeping duties accurately and efficiently
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Producing monthly and quarterly management accounts
- Supporting clients with accounting queries and day-to-day financial matters
- Assisting with financial reporting and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
- Maintaining accurate accounting records and financial documentation
- Building positive and professional relationships with clients and colleagues
- Supporting continuous process improvements within the practice

Skills & Experience Required
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
- Experience preparing statutory accounts
- Strong bookkeeping and VAT knowledge
- Experience producing management accounts
- AAT qualification or equivalent accounting qualification, or substantial QBE experience
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Good communication and client relationship management abilities
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications
- A proactive and collaborative approach to work
