About the Role
You’re partnering with an independent sydney-based digital consultancy, a team of 50 specialists across SEO, paid media, content, analytics, and digital strategy. Their clients range from global brands to fast-growing scale-ups, and SEO isn’t an afterthought—it’s core to what they do.
This offer is for an SEO Director—a senior, strategic role that doesn’t bog you down in execution. The team is already technically robust; now they need a strategic leader, a client confidante, and someone to help practitioners hone their craft.
Your responsibilities:
- Lead key client relationships (QBRs, escalations, strategic planning sessions)
- Mentor and grow three direct reports
- Shape the consultancy’s approach to evolving search trends, including GEO (Google Ecosystem Optimization), AEO (Apple Ecosystems Optimization), and AI-driven discovery (ChatGPT, Gemini, and beyond)
- Elevate SEO from an afterthought to the defining strategic pillar of client engagements

Core Responsibilities
- Client Leadership: Drive quarterly business reviews and escalation within major accounts.

- Client Acquisition: Pitch for and secure new revenue streams.
- Team Development: Shape the growth of three dedicated SEO team members.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with paid media, analytics, content, and outreach teams for tighter, data-driven results.
- Future-Proofing Search: Build frameworks for scalable AI and multi-engine search strategy.
Requirements
- An Engineer Your Career–class portfolio: two+ years of hands-on experience in technical SEO, content strategy, and SEO-driven business growth.
- Team Mentor DNA: You know that the best leadership is empowering others, not dictating. Find your joy in helping teams excel.
- Client Confidence: Comfortable steering difficult conversations, up every level of stakeholder, and translating SEO to measurable ROI.
- Far-Sighted Vision: Obsessed with where search is headed—expected to advancement like Geographic Exploration Optimization (GEO), AI-driven discovery, and ее largest-platform search.
