Equal Education Partners: University Mentor (Fixed-Term, June–December 2026)
We deliver an online mentoring programme for several hundred year 12/13 learners via Seren Academy, helping mentees with university applications, guidance, and insights into university life.
Mentors are matched with students who share similar academic aspirations—sharing expertise in subjects studied, university destinations, interview preparation, and personal statement tips. You’ll provide targeted support and reliable resources throughout the mentees’ application journey.
As a mentor, you’ll receive:
- Weekly support (session outlines, training, speaker opportunities)
- A fixed-term contract (June–December 2026)

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct 3–4 1:1 mentoring sessions (50 mins each) for 4–10 mentees per cohort
- Provide expertise on university admissions, including:
- Personal statement refinement
- Admission interviews
- Supply useful resources (e.g. curriculum materials, university guides)
- Demonstrate proactive engagement (e.g., scheduling sessions, consistent check-ins)
- Collaborate with the project delivery team (project updates, feedback)
- Fulfil any related tasks as needed
Personal Specification
- Current undergraduate or postgraduate student (within last 2 years) in select disciplines
- Insider knowledge of the university application process
- Strong communication and ICT skills
- Ability to work independently, organisation, and planning
