Serious Injury Claims Associate
Role Overview To handle a portfolio of claimant serious injury claims for Minster Law clients while contributing to the success of the Serious Injury department. The caseload includes Road Traffic Accident (RTA) cases with complex technical issues and quantum, ranging from £125k to multi-million £ thresholds. Responsibilities extend to mentoring junior colleagues, aligning with departmental strategy, and representing the business externally.
Main Responsibilities
Client Case Management
- Act as a technical expert in a specialised area of serious injury claims
- Provide exceptional client care, ensuring ongoing support for claimants dealing with life-changing events
- Oversee effective case progression, implementing new working practices and procedures
- Conduct regular client meetings, both in-person and digital, to maintain engagement
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (e.g., medical experts, case managers, care assessors, forensic accountants, counsel) to strengthen claim strategies
Legal & Technical Work
- Analyse evidence, conduct legal research, and apply expertise in liability, causation, and quantum assessments
- Draft key legal documents, including:
- Statements
- Pleadings
- Schedules of loss
- Maximise early interim payments and facilitate appropriate rehabilitation to support claimants’ recoveries
- Pursue optimised settlements while maintaining strong client advocacy
Important Additional Responsibilities
- Represent the department externally through partnerships with organisations like APIL (Association of Personal Injury Lawyers), Headway, and SIA (Society of Insurance Adjusters), increasing awareness of Minster Law’s expertise
- Contribute to publishing efforts, including case reports, articles, and testimonial content
- Mentor and develop junior team members by:
- Establishing clear objectives and KPIs
- Addressing performance issues with the Team Manager
- Conducting 121 meetings and technical/case reviews
- Operate in a target-driven, high-quality environment, prioritising client care, case efficiency, and fee recovery
- Perform any additional tasks as reasonably required by the business

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Case Team Delivery: Achieve planned results and SLAs within the client case team, ensuring on-time completion
- Team Competence: Demonstrate development in case management skills and support technical reviews
- Team Engagement: Improve team output and performance through motivation and collaboration
- Client Retention: Maintain high standards of care to minimise disputes and losses without costs
- Fee & Recovery: Optimise case progression, maximise recoveries and fee income, and reduce write-offs
- Business Growth: Reflect a contribution to strategy, growth, and external development
- Performance Reviews: Regular evaluations with the Line Manager to assess progress
Person Specification: Associate
Essential Qualifications & Experience
✅ Qualified Solicitor or CILEX Fellow with a minimum of 8 years’ post-qualification experience (or equivalent to Charge & Recovery Grade A) ✅ Proven track record as a lead fee earner in serious injury claims, with expertise in complex litigation and practical court procedures ✅ Demonstrable mentoring skills for junior colleagues, serving as a role model ✅ Deep commitment to high-quality client care, especially in trauma-related cases ✅ Strong professional reputation and industry network in personal injury, including:
- APIL, Headway, SIA connections (desirable)
- Evidence of brand-building for Minster Law ✅ Accountability under pressure, merging high standards with agile decision-making

Salary & Benefits
