Job Title: Serious Injury Business Development Manager

Responsible to: Head of Partnerships

Level: Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager with a strong background in the legal sector to develop and secure new sources of high-value and complex serious injury claims from law firms and other distribution partners across the UK focusing on building long-term relationships that generate a sustainable pipeline of high-quality serious injury cases.

The successful candidate will have an established network within the claimant personal injury market and a proven track record of generating enduring relationships with law firms, supply chain partners, and other organizations.

This role will focus on identifying opportunities to acquire and develop strategic partnerships that deliver a sustainable pipeline of serious injury cases.

This is a senior business development position requiring excellent relationship management skills, commercial acumen, and a deep understanding of the personal injury legal landscape.

Key Accountabilities

Sales and Business Development

  • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan focused on acquiring new serious injury sources of work.
  • Identify, engage, and secure new partnerships with organizations that do not have specialist serious injury capabilities and may wish to outsource the conduct of the complex cases.
  • Build relationships with managing partners, heads of personal injury, partners, directors, and senior decision-makers within claimant law firms.
  • Generate and convert opportunities for case recommendation agreements and strategic collaborations.
  • Maintain a strong pipeline of prospective work sources and manage opportunities through to completion.

Partnership Development & Management

  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of high-quality, long-term partnerships that consistently generate a flow of serious injury cases.
  • Lead onboarding of new partners and ongoing relationship management.
  • Monitor partnership performance and drive growth in case volumes.

Market Development

  • Conduct market research to identify partner opportunities and monitor competitor activity.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of developments within the personal injury and serious injury sectors.
  • Recommend and implement initiatives to increase market share within the serious injury sector.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build internal relationships and represent the business at industry events. Produce and present internal reports on sales insights and performance as required.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, acting as a credible and trusted representative of the firm across the market.
  • Provide regular updates on regional activity, pipeline development, and partnership progress.
  • Develop and nurture strong, long-term relationships with law firms, recommendation partners, and other distribution partners operating within the serious injury market.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • New law firm partnerships established.
  • Serious injury cases sourced.
  • Conversion rate of opportunities.
  • Growth of existing partnerships.
  • Pipeline value and CRM activity.
  • Demonstrating alignment to company values and behaviors.

Person Specification

Essential criteria

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in business development within the legal services sector.
  • Strong understanding of personal injury sector and the organizations that support it.
  • Existing network of contacts within claimant law firms across the UK.
  • Demonstrable success in developing and securing new relationships and strategic partnerships.
  • Proven track record of achieving business development and revenue growth targets.
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking capability.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a national territory.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly.

Desirable

  • Understanding of regulatory compliance considerations within the legal sector.
  • Law degree, business qualification, or relevant professional accreditation.
  • Experience using CRM platforms and business development reporting tools.

Travel

Regular travel including Minster Law’s Wakefield office.
