This role can either be based at our Exchange Quay, Salford Manchester M5 3EF Office OR our Kirkby, Liverpool L33 7XW Office

Role Summary:

Are you passionate about building and maintaining robust IT infrastructure? We’re looking for a skilled Server Infrastructure Engineer to manage enterprise-level systems and ensure our technology runs seamlessly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, configure, and support Microsoft Windows Server 2016 to 2025 environments.
  • Administer, configure and support Linux based systems.
  • Maintain Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP and certificate services across multiple domains.
  • Support virtual infrastructure including VMware vSphere and Hyper-V.
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of disaster recovery solutions and backup strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal security policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, ISO27001, PCI DSS v4.0).
  • Provide support and root cause analysis for complex issues.
  • Document system configurations, changes and operating procedures.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects, including system upgrades, migrations and cloud integration.
  • System Patching and software updates.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years in a Systems Engineering role within an enterprise or regulated environment.
  • Proven expertise in managing both Windows Server and Linux platforms with Active Directory.
  • Strong experience with VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix Virtual Apps/Desktops, Xen hypervisor technologies.
  • Exposure to cloud services (Microsoft Azure, Purview, Hybrid environments).
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or Citrix certification (e.g., CCA-V).

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange and O365 administration.
  • Citrix Daas and XenServer.
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security concepts.
  • PowerShell/Bash scripting to automate and streamline administrative tasks.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and backup tools (e.g. Graylog, Zabbix, Arcserve, Rubrik, Veeam).
  • Solid understanding of networking basics (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls).
  • Microsoft Certified (e.g., MCSA, MCSE or Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate).
  • Experience working in financial services, legal, or debt recovery sectors.
  • Experience of Ansible, Terraform or similar automation tools.
  • Awareness of security frameworks and ITIL best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and writing skills.
  • Comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
