About the Role
Colas is seeking a customer-focused and organised Service Advisor for a 6-month maternity cover contract at their Ringmer depot (BN8 5NP) within the Mechanical Services team.
This role bridges the gap between customers and service departments, ensuring outstanding service from booking to vehicle collection.
Main Responsibilities
- First point of customer contact: Handle service bookings, insurance/warranty queries, and general enquiries with a customer-focused approach.
- Process management: Coordinate job progress, update internal databases, and maintain accurate records of service and repair activity.
- Communication liaison: Regularly update customers on vehicle progress while working closely with technicians to ensure timely, high-standard repairs.
- Administrative duties:
- Process customer payments.
- Prepare reports as required.
- Support the workshop supervisor in maintaining an efficient workflow.
- Quality assurance: Uphold Mechanical Services team standards by delivering exceptional customer service.

Ideal Candidate
The perfect candidate will embody the following:
- Customer service proficiency: Strong communication skills, a passion for delivering positive customer experiences, and a professional telephone manner.
- IT literacy and organisation: Confidence in using computer systems and excellent time management and attention to detail.
- Adaptability: Ability to stay calm under pressure and thrive in a team-based environment.
- Previous experience: Ideally, customer-facing or service advisor experience, though a positive attitude and initiative are equally valued.
- Soft skills: Reliability, commitment to high standards, and a dedication to ongoing personal/professional growth.
Package Description
Colas offers a competitive benefits package for this role, including:
- Salary: £27,000–£29,000 P.R.O.R.A (pro-rated for the 6-month contract).
- Working hours: 37.5 hours per week.
- Pension scheme: Company contribution (up to 10%) under the Colas Pension Scheme.
