Service & Selling Coach – John Lewis Partnership
About The Role
As a Service & Selling Coach in one of our John Lewis shops, you'll be helping to deliver a real difference to our customers through service they wouldn’t find anywhere else. You’ll be using your expert knowledge to train and coach Partners so that they have all of the tools they need to provide the very best service John Lewis is known for—ensuring customers return time and time again, earning their trust and loyalty for a lifetime.
Key Responsibilities
Helping our Partners have all of the skills and knowledge they need to serve our customers is a core element of this role. On a day-to-day basis, you'll be responsible for:
- Conducting engaging training/coaching sessions for Partners—both in groups and on an individual basis—to improve their service and selling skills.
- Providing Partners with constructive feedback to support their personal development.
- Being creative in how you deliver training, adapting to different learning styles.
- Planning and delivering inductions for new Partners.
- Delivering and supporting technical training required on the shopfloor (e.g., operating headsets, using devices, apps, and learning platforms).
- Staying up to date with your own learning and development to champion the best service associated with the John Lewis brand.

To excel in this Service & Selling Coach role, you should possess:
- Confidence in delivering coaching and training in various styles—whether in groups or one-on-one—as well as giving peer-to-peer feedback.
- Strong computer skills to facilitate and produce training across different systems.
- Outstanding customer service experience.
- Background in a customer-facing selling/retail environment.
- Ability to plan and prioritise your time and workload effectively.
Desirable Skills & Experience
While not mandatory, the following could strengthen your application:
- Previous experience working as part of a team.
- Knowledge and experience with learning platforms such as Workday, One Place Learning, or PDW.
- Skills in stakeholder management to build relationships with colleagues and subject matter experts.
