Call Out Engineer – London (For TfL Escalators)

Shift Pattern: 4-on-4-off (Days, 07:00–19:00)
Role Overview
Join Otis, a world-leading elevator and escalator company, as a Call Out Engineer to support the Transport for London (TfL) underground escalator network.
Your core responsibility? Ensuring the uninterrupted, safe operation of escalators—this means rapid breakdown response, proactive repairs, and technical problem-solving to minimise passenger disruption.
Daily tasks include:
- Conducting emergency escalator breakdowns and repairs to restore first-time service where possible
- Managing a portfolio of escalators across the London Underground network
- Building strong relationships with customer stakeholders through clear, efficient on-site communication
- Proactively diagnosing faults to reduce repeat calls
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Qualifications
✔ NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Escalator Engineering – essential, with significant hands-on experience in escalator maintenance and repair. ✔ Deep technical knowledge of multiple escalator brands (mechanical and electrical systems). ✔ UK driving licence – flexibility and overtime may be required. ✔ Safety-first mindset with the ability to prioritise risk assessment in high-ESTA requirements (London Underground regulators). ✔ Strong communication skills (stakeholder liaison, customer rapport). ✔ Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively under tight deadlines. ✔ Proficiency with electronic/digital tools, diagnostic systems, and field technology.
