Service Coordinator (Weekday Nights)

The Service Coordinator (Weekday Nights) supports the operational control room during night-time weekend operations. You will be responsible for allocating workforce and plant to planned and reactive works, ensuring that all activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with Rail operational requirements.

You will work closely with the Duty Engineer, who will provide technical guidance and escalation support. Your role focuses on coordinating resources, managing job progress, communicating updates, and maintaining accurate records.

Hours: Sunday to Thursday nights 9.30pm - 5.30am (8 hour shifts)

Key Responsibilities

  • Allocate crews, vehicles, and equipment to planned and reactive works across the network.
  • Liaise with the Duty Engineer for technical direction and escalation where required.
  • Communicate clearly with field-based teams, project managers, and supervisors.
  • Support the coordination of emergency response works during night shifts.
  • Ensure effective shift handovers to daytime coordinators and Duty Engineers.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, access, and competency requirements.
  • Ensure all work is logged accurately, including shift reports, delays, and completion notes.
  • Monitor job progress in real time and update records on the operational management system.

Skills And Experience Required

  • Previous experience in a coordination, scheduling, or control room environment is preferred (rail, drainage, highways, or utilities experience beneficial).
  • Clear and confident communication, especially under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
  • Ability to work independently during night operations.
  • Good IT skills and the ability to learn internal systems.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams at once.
