The Opportunity

As a Service Development Manager over a 12-month fixed term contract, you’ll play a key role in strengthening how we serve public sector customers and frameworks, ensuring high-quality operational delivery aligned with business strategy. This influential role will directly enhance customer satisfaction and long-term partnerships, supporting our journey towards An Electric Britain.

Role Basics

  • Hybrid working model: Expected to attend EDF’s Exeter office (Gadeon House, EX1 3UT) at least once a month, with flexible home working for the rest.
  • Fixed-term contract (12 months)
  • Salary: £45,760 p.a. (based on your salary, experience and existing qualifications)
  • Potential bonus and market-leading pension scheme

Challenges & Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Strategic alignment: Act as the key link between customers, framework providers, and operational teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with public sector customers, senior stakeholders, and framework providers.
  • Service improvement: Review customer journey performance, identify gaps, and propose data-driven enhancements for operational outcomes.
  • Complex issue resolution: Lead resolutions for challenging customer escalations by coordinating cross-team activity.
  • Representation & advocacy: Represent the business at customer meetings, framework events, and stakeholder forums.
  • Continuous improvement: Drive initiatives that elevate customer experience and business growth.
  • Collaboration: Work with operational leaders and subject matter experts to overcome obstacles and implement solutions.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a strategic Service Development Manager who thrives in dynamic stakeholder environments and is driven by skills-based impact. Key traits include:

  • Proven experience in customer-focused roles, such as service improvement, account management, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong influence & credibility with both internal/external senior stakeholders.
  • Relationship management expertise across customers, frameworks, and cross-functional teams.
  • Data literacy – ability to derive actionable insights from performance metrics for service enhancements.
  • Resourceful problem-solving and escalation management in high-pressure situations.
  • Ideal: Industry experience in energy, utilities, public sector, or heavily regulated environments.
