Across South Gloucestershire, the impact of this role is visible in every community and place. As Service Director for Property and Business Support Services, you will shape how the council’s estate serves people today and for the future.
Role Overview
Leading the strategic direction and management of a significant and varied property portfolio, you will ensure it supports service delivery and community outcomes. You will oversee a £100m capital programme, manage a property estate generating £5m in annual income, and deliver £40m in capital receipts over five years. Alongside this, you will drive a more strategic and commercial approach to asset management, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, maximise value, and explore innovative delivery models. You will lead and motivate a team to deliver a focus on delivery, customer satisfaction, and strategic improvement.

About South Gloucestershire Council
South Gloucestershire Council is a well-led, politically stable unitary authority, embedded within the M4/M5 corridor. As part of a collaborative and forward-thinking senior leadership team, you will report to the Executive Director of Resources and work closely with elected members to provide strategic advice and shape key decisions across the organisation.

Success in this role will be demonstrated through:

- Supporting positive, visible outcomes for communities
About You
You will bring significant senior leadership experience within a complex environment, coupled with strong commercial awareness and financial acumen. Confident working with elected members, senior officers, and external stakeholders, you will influence at a strategic level and lead with clarity and credibility. A professional background in property (for example RICS or equivalent) would be advantageous, although your leadership approach, strategic thinking, and ability to drive change are paramount.
