Service Engineer

Service Engineer

Location: Corby, Northamptonshire

Salary: £37,000 - £40,000 depending on experience, with flexibility for the right candidate who can demonstrate strong technical capability and relevant industry experience

About the Role

Barker Ross is recruiting on behalf of a leading specialist in mechanised irrigation and water management. They are looking for a hands-on Service Engineer to support installation, servicing, and maintenance of irrigation systems. This is a practical role with a mix of workshop and field-based work—not repetitive maintenance.

You will work on large-scale irrigation equipment, including:

  • Irrigation booms and hose reels
  • Pumps and pumping systems
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Diesel-driven equipment
  • Electrical control systems, automation, sensors, and controls

The role involves diagnosing faults, testing, and problem-solving on equipment both in the workshop and at customer sites. You'll work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure reliable system operation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
