Your new company

You will be working for IBM for an end client who is based in Glasgow. My clients are looking for a Service Engineer/Infrastructure Engineer with cloud platforms experience. The role requirement is to be on-site 1-2 days a week and this role is until Dec 2026 and inside scope of IR35.

Your new role

IBM is seeking an experienced Service Engineer / Infrastructure Engineer to join a key technology programme in Glasgow. This role is focused on building, supporting, and enhancing enterprise infrastructure platforms that underpin critical business applications and services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, scalability, and security of infrastructure environments across on-premise and cloud platforms. Working within a DevOps-oriented environment, you will utilise modern engineering practices, automation, and troubleshooting expertise to deliver resilient technology services and support ongoing transformation initiatives.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a hands-on Service Engineer with a strong infrastructure background, cloud platform experience, and a security-first mindset. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating within a fast-paced enterprise environment, leveraging automation and DevOps practices to deliver highly available, secure, and scalable technology services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and support infrastructure platforms and services across cloud and enterprise environments.
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, scalability, and security of systems and technology platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and platform-related issues.
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure automation and DevOps best practices.
  • Support incident response activities and ensure rapid restoration of services.
  • Work closely with development, security, and operational teams to enhance platform performance and stability.
  • Contribute to technology transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Apply software engineering principles to infrastructure management and operations.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimisation.
  • Maintain compliance with organisational risk, governance, and security controls.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong Infrastructure Engineering experience within large enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting cloud computing platforms and services.
  • Proven background in Technology Security and secure infrastructure delivery.
  • Knowledge of DevOps principles, tools, and engineering practices.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and incident management capabilities.
  • Experience with infrastructure and platform automation.
  • Understanding of software development and engineering methodologies.
  • Knowledge of technology risk, controls, and governance frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
