Service Engineer - Electronics

Field Service Engineer - Tamworth

£30,000 - £35,000 per annum

Mon-Thurs 7.30am - 4pm - Fri 7.30am - 2pm - Permanent

As a Field Service Technician, you will play a pivotal role in the successful execution of service activities across Derbyshire. Your expertise will be essential in the installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and control components. You will ensure that each project is completed efficiently and in line with customer expectations, delivering technical solutions and services to a diverse range of clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed service activities, including the mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation aspects of equipment installation, maintenance, and repair. You will ensure proper setup, calibration, and commissioning of complex systems in compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct routine audits and inspections of systems to ensure proper functioning, identify potential areas for improvement, and build the service jobs pipeline for the Aftersales division.
  • Collaborate with the technical department to prepare client sites for the installation of specialty equipment. This includes liaising with customers to ensure that all logistical, mechanical, and safety requirements are met prior to installation and commissioning.
  • Manage the overall service workflow, including preparation of material breakdowns, defining work requirements, and utilizing engineering to guide service tasks.
  • Utilize SCADA, PLC, and DCS platforms to control and systems effectively.
  • Conduct or supervise assembly work or factory acceptance tests at vendor workshops to ensure equipment quality and readiness prior to installation.
  • Ensure that all field service activities are conducted in strict accordance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations. You will actively promote a safety-first culture and ensure all equipment and procedures meet required safety standards.

  • Apprentice trained / time served equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Electro-Mechanical HND or equivalent.

Work Experience:

  • Experience in field service work related to mechanical and electronic systems.
