Job Introduction
Are you a skilled and experienced mechanical & electrical technician who is familiar with press-fit, pipework, low level access, plumbing and electrical equipment? Are you looking for a role that offers variety, challenge, and the opportunity to make a real impact? We have an exciting opportunity to join MEP Hire as a Field Service Engineer.
Reporting to the National Service Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing both MEP Hire assets and customer-owned assets across our branch network. Your work will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest operational standards are met and that equipment is readily available for our customers. This role involves travel across the UK, providing essential technical support, audits, and training.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical construction and industrial equipment, including press-fit tools, low-level access platforms, and pipework systems.
- Conduct inspections and certifications on MEP Hire assets and customer-owned equipment.
- Perform workshop and asset audits to ensure operational compliance.
- Provide hands-on engineering support and product demonstrations to both colleagues and customers.
- Support apprentices within the MEP Hire network.
- Assist with fleet, employee, and branch investigations as required.
- Offer workshop cover and stock checks across multiple branch locations.
- Travel extensively across the UK, with overnight stays as required, to perform equipment servicing, audits, and training.

Must-haves
What We’re Looking For
- A valid UK driving licence.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose and repair equipment.
- Good analytical, validation, and evaluation skills.
- Strong IT skills and familiarity with reporting tools.
- Awareness of HSE, IPAF, LEEA & HAE regulations.
- Flexibility to respond to duties outside normal working hours.
- IPAF CAP & LEEA LEG or LMM Certification (or willingness to achieve these within an agreed timeframe).
Desirable
- Previous experience working with MEP Hire products and workshop operations.
- A relevant certificated qualification (or a minimum of 5 years of directly relevant experience).
