Company Description
iFAST Diagnostics is advancing a rapid antimicrobial susceptibility testing technology that helps ensure patients with bacterial infections receive the right antibiotic quickly and accurately. Its tests deliver full quantitative and qualitative results in under three hours from a positive blood culture or bacterial isolate, significantly faster than current 48–72 hour methods. The platform is designed to be cost-effective, reduce manual laboratory work, and increase throughput so that most labs can operate with a single system. Operating in a global market estimated at $4 billion, iFAST plans to launch in the UK in early 2026, followed by entry into the US and EU markets. The company is focused on improving patient outcomes and supporting laboratories with innovative, practical diagnostic solutions.
Purpose
Support the deployment, reliability, and continuous improvement of our instrument fleet by servicing machines in the field and on-site, capturing real-world insights, and feeding them directly into product development. The role requires an openness to spend a potentially significant amount of time on customer sites across the UK.

Responsibilities
- Commission instruments at customer sites (UK-focused) and provide user training.
- Diagnose, repair, and service machines both in the field and at our facility.
- Document service activities, failures, and corrective actions with high accuracy.
- Provide structured feedback to Engineering and Manufacturing on reliability, serviceability, and design improvements.
- Contribute to or lead the development of service manuals, maintenance intervals, and test procedures.
- Support root-cause investigations and prototype testing as part of the Engineering team.
- Act as a self-managed resource, planning travel and coordinating with customers.
- Support operations and manufacturing when available including maintaining the in-house fleet, including preventative maintenance and upgrades.

Requirements
- Strong practical engineering skills and willingness to “get hands-on”.
- Degree in engineering or equivalent apprenticeship/HNC.
- 3 years experience building or servicing electromechanical machinery/PLC.
- 3 years experience servicing equipment in the field and in a regulated environment.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel (multi-day trips).
Preferred
- Experience in medical devices (ideally fluid handling bias).
- Experience working with R&D teams or supporting product development.
- Strong communication skills for reporting issues and supporting customers.
