Service Improvement Manager for Estates, Facilities and Capital Development (EFCD)
We are delighted to offer an exciting 12-month secondment opportunity to join our team at UHS Estates Ltd (UEL) to lead a range of projects and activities, supporting our business improvement journey.
About UHS Estates Ltd (UEL)
UHS Estates Limited (UEL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). Our key responsibilities include:
- Design and construction of new buildings
- Ongoing provision of estates maintenance
- Soft facilities management
- Management of equipment, consumables, and materials for one of the largest acute teaching trusts in England.
The Role
What You Will Do
As the Service Improvement Manager (EFCD), you will:
- Lead, plan, and implement projects and improvement initiatives in collaboration with associated teams
- Ensure the successful delivery of project objectives against agreed financial, efficiency, or service improvement goals
- Partner with stakeholders to enable the adoption of sustainable change through effective team engagement and communication

Responsibilities
Key Duties
- Act as a leader and facilitator for EFCD projects, ensuring alignment with wider business goals
- Drive and oversee service improvements, reporting progress and insights to senior leadership
- Collaborate with operational teams to identify and implement effective, scalable change
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Requirements

Essential Criteria
- Relevant degree or level 6 qualification (or equivalent work experience) in project or improvement delivery
- Advanced knowledge demonstrated through a relevant master’s degree or level 7 qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Evidence of ongoing training in leadership, project delivery, or improvement methodologies
- Expertise in recognised project management techniques (e.g., PRINCE, Agile)
- Real-world experience in leadership of service improvement initiatives
- Experience with risk assessment methodologies
- Ability to analyse complex technical information and communicate findings clearly
- Strong track record in identifying project risks and developing mitigation strategies
Desirable Criteria
- Certification in PRINCE2 or similar project management frameworks
- Previous healthcare setting experience
- Proven success in service improvement environments
- Structured project management portfolio displaying impact and scalability of initiatives
