Service Improvement Manager

12-Month Secondment as Service Improvement Manager (EFCD) at UHS Estates Ltd

About the Opportunity

We are pleased to offer an exciting 12-month secondment opportunity to join UHS Estates Ltd (UEL) and lead transformational service improvement projects.

Role Overview

As Service Improvement Manager for Estates, Facilities, and Capital Development (EFCD), you will:

  • Drive business improvement initiatives within UHS Estates Ltd, supporting UHS’s hospital services, employees, and patient outcomes
  • Lead project development, implementation, and adoption across cross-functional teams
  • Foster collaboration to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and delivery quality across estates and facilities

About UHS Estates Ltd

UHS Estates Ltd (UEL) is a subsidiary of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, responsible for:

  • Designing and constructing new buildings
  • Operational services including:
    • Estates maintenance
    • Soft facilities management
    • Equipment, consumables, and materials management

Delivering Projects & Improvements

You will:

  • Lead and manage multiple service improvement projects in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Set and track performance metrics against financial, efficiency, or service-level targets
  • Drive adoption of sustainable changes through effective stakeholder engagement

Requirements

Essential Criteria

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or level 6 qualification (or equivalent work experience) in project or improvement delivery
  • Masters or level 7 qualification (or equivalent) in project or improvement delivery
  • Evidence of leadership training (further studies/courses)
  • Proven expertise in recognised project management frameworks/technologies (e.g., PRINCE2)
  • Significant practical experience in service improvement initiatives
  • Strong risk management experience (risk assessment & mitigation strategy development)

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Ability to analyse complex technical information and convey findings effectively
  • Ability to identify high-risk projects and develop mitigation strategies

Desirable (Bonus Inducements)

  • Certified project management training (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile certifications)
  • Experience in healthcare-related sectors
  • Demonstrable SNIP/Service Improvement Project (SIP) experience
  • History of structured project management with measurable outcomes
