Service Locator – KierBAM (Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth)

About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Service Locator to join our KierBAM team at the Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth. Our Joint Venture, a partnership between Kier and BAM Nuttall, delivers an exciting redevelopment project on this historic Royal Navy site. As a Service Locator, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safe identification and management of underground services across the construction site.

Key Responsibilities

As a Service Locator, your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Using geophysical techniques (e.g., electromagnetic location equipment, ground-penetrating radar) to detect underground services and accurately mark them on-site, recording type and depth
  • Authorising and maintaining Permit to Break Surface (PTBS) documentation, ensuring full compliance with project procedures
  • Providing teams with comprehensive service overviews within their work boundaries and advising on safe working methods
  • Conducting site briefings using an 8-point checklist and enforcing exclusion zones around affected services
  • Liaising with the Building Operations Support Contractor (BOSC) regarding any discrepancies in service records and ensuring up-to-date drawings

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
