An opportunity to work on our MOD project in Plymouth, delivering major redevelopment works over the coming years.
Job Details
- PAYE basis
- Paid Holidays: 30 days per year (including bank holidays)
Must Have
- CSCS Card.
- Experience working as a Service Locator/Utility Surveyor within construction or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with Electromagnetic Location and Ground Penetrating Radar essential.
- Strong working knowledge of GPR, CAT and Genny utility detection equipment.
- Understanding of industry standards including PAS 128 and TSA.
- Knowledge of HSG47 and GS6.
- Experience carrying out underground service detection and utility surveys.
- Ability to mark and identify underground services accurately.
- Experience working with permit-to-dig and permit-to-break-ground systems.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly with site teams, engineers and clients.
- Flexible and proactive approach towards work.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks within live construction environments.
- QCF Level 3 or Level 5 certification in Utility Mapping preferred.
- 2-3 years utility surveying experience preferred.
- Nuclear experience advantageous.
- Must be eligible for BPSS Security Clearance.
- Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.

Job Schedule
This role is site based - Monday to Friday
- 42.5 hours per week
- 08:00am - 17:00pm
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out physical checks and surveys of underground services within designated work areas
- Use geophysical techniques to locate underground services accurately
- Mark and identify underground services using appropriate colour standards and depth indicators
- Authorise Permit to Break Surface documentation
- Ensure compliance with permit-to-dig and break ground procedures
- Review method statements tailored to specific tasks and work areas
- Provide work teams with clear information regarding underground services within excavation boundaries
- Carry out gang briefings and implement 8-point checklist procedures
- Maintain service markings throughout excavation and permit duration
- Enforce exclusion zones around affected services where required
- Investigate and report discrepancies or uncharted services to the BOSC
- Ensure service drawings and CAD records are updated correctly
- Ensure no excavation works take place without valid permits and approvals
- Support the safe delivery of infrastructure and defence projects within live MOD environments
