About the role
As an HVAC Maintenance Technician at Tesco, covering our Oxford, Abingdon and Banbury areas, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping our environments comfortable, safe, and fully operational for both customers and colleagues. Your expertise in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems will ensure our stores remain energy-efficient and compliant with safety standards.
You’ll be part of a skilled maintenance team, responsible for both planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across a wide range of HVAC systems and equipment. From diagnosing faults to carrying out repairs and optimising system performance, your work will help ensure a seamless shopping experience for thousands of customers every day.
This is a hands-on, mobile role that requires strong technical knowledge, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to high standards of service and safety. You will be responsible for
- Ensuring all Tesco sites are a safe and functioning environment for customers and colleagues.
- Following the planned work schedule to achieve first time fix, maximising productivity, and effectiveness.
- Delivering high quality work standards across the estate, with year-on-year improvement.
- Using problem-solving skills and innovation to identify and develop solutions for key and common issues.
- Owning tasks at a local level through to completion/resolution, informing key stakeholders through the process, where required.
- Using mobile devices; phone and tablet, to drive best practice in work completion and updates.
- Using the business systems to drive best practice in work order reporting to support asset lifecycle management.
- Supporting KPI delivery, through the practical application of skill sets, and effective use of business systems to drive achievement of your own set KPIs.

You will need
- Full driving license
- Health & Safety awareness
- Communication & stakeholder management
- Office 365 knowledge
- Level 3 City & Guilds or equivalent Mechanical Engineering/Engineering
- Digitally confident; can comfortably operate mobile phone and tablets to view workload, emails, teams, and use of business systems.
- Refrigeration and AC C&G 6187, 7189, 6090 or NVQ or equivalent
- Heating & Ventilation C&G 7188, 6288, 6188 or NVQ or Equivalent
- Plumbing & Heating C&G 4467, 3345, 6189, 6035 or NVQ or Equivalent
- C&G 2079 - F-Gas and ODS regulations (Air Con)
- CCN1 - Core gas safety (Gas) includes COCN1 & CODNCO1
- CENWAT
- CDGA1 – Commercial natural gas and LPG direct fired heating appliances
- ICPN1 - Installation first fix commercial pipework
- CIGA1 - Commercial indirect fired heating appliances
- CORT1 - Commercial overhead radiant heaters
- TPCP1A - Testing and direct purging of low pressure commercial pipework not exceeding 1m3
- TPCP1 - Testing and direct purging of commercial pipework exceeding 1m3 in volume up to 7 bar

- Annual bonus scheme of up to 10% of base salary.
