Mechanical Service Maintenance Technician – Newbury, Andover, & Salisbury Area
About the Role
As a Mechanical Service Maintenance Technician at Tesco, covering Newbury, Andover, Salisbury and surrounding areas, you’ll ensure our stores remain safe, functional, and welcoming for customers and colleagues. Based on a skilled team, you will perform planned and reactive maintenance across:
- Passenger & goods lifts
- Travelators & escalators
- Dock levellers
- DDLS systems
- Scissor lifts
- Backyard gates (BYGs)
- Sectional doors
- Roller shutters
- Rapid roll doors
- Fire shutters
- Compactors & balers
- Pallet stackers
Your expertise will directly impact thousands of customers daily. Swift troubleshooting, safety compliance, and quality perfection are priorities. A hands-on role demanding proactiveness, problem-solving, and adherence to high standards.

Responsibilities
- Maintenance & repairs for lift & powered systems (see above).
- Breakdown response to minimise store downtime.
- Safety inspections, testing, & certification per compliance standards.
- Document maintenance via digital tools.
- Site collaboration to execute work safely with minimal disruption.
- Continuous improvement in maintenance procedures.

Requirements
Operational Skills & Certifications
- ONC or equivalent qualification
- Recognised mechanical apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2/3
- Full UK driving licence
- Health & Safety awareness certified
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
- Enrolment & completion of relevant training modules
Relevant Experience & Competencies
- Hands-on lift & access control systems experience
- Fault-finding & diagnostics, with a mechanical bent
- Knowledge of powered doors, platforms, & compaction equipment
- Robust understanding of regulatory compliance for workplace machinery
