Service Manager - Mechanical & Electrical Repairs

Salary: £64,614 | Level: CFL12

Join Swindon Borough Council at a pivotal moment in our transformation journey. Backed by major investment and strengthened governance, this senior role offers the opportunity to lead critical compliance services with real impact on resident safety.

Background

Following a C3 regulatory judgement, Swindon Borough Council is investing £250 million over the next five years to improve safety, compliance, stock condition and tenant experience.

Your New Role

As Service Manager - Mechanical & Electrical Repairs, you will provide senior leadership for the delivery of a high-quality, customer focused responsive repairs service across the Council's housing and corporate property portfolio.

Working alongside a fellow Service Manager, you will take shared accountability for the operational and strategic management of the service, leading a large direct labour workforce delivering around 20,000 repairs each year. You will ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard, balancing customer need, safety and service demand through sound judgement and clear prioritisation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
