Service Supervisor
Location: Rotherham
Reports To: Service Manager
Role Type: Full-time, hands-on engineering role with supervisory responsibility
The Opportunity
Flowplant is seeking an experienced and motivated Service Supervisor to lead our Rotherham service operation.
This is primarily a practical, hands-on engineering role suited to a senior engineer ready to take the next step in their career. Working alongside and supporting an apprentice engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of workmanship, productivity and customer service whilst remaining actively involved in servicing, repairing and commissioning equipment.
Reporting directly to the Service Manager, you will be the lead engineer within the depot, helping to develop the apprentice, support customers and ensure equipment is prepared and maintained to the highest standard.

The role offers a varied working environment, combining workshop-based activities with travel to customer sites throughout the UK. Overnight stays will occasionally be required to support installation, commissioning, servicing and breakdown activities.
The Service Supervisor will also support the management and maintenance of the hire fleet, ensuring equipment is prepared, serviced, inspected and available for customer deployment. Working closely with the Service Manager, the role will help maintain fleet reliability, presentation and utilisation, with a focus on delivering high-quality equipment and excellent customer service. Whilst hire fleet activities form part of the role, the position remains primarily a hands-on engineering and service-based opportunity.
The Role
- Lead day-to-day engineering activities within the Rotherham depot.
- Carry out service, repair, fault finding and refurbishment of Flowplant equipment.
- Support, mentor and develop the apprentice engineer.
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Conduct final inspections and quality checks before equipment is released to customers.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and engine-related faults.
- Prepare equipment for installation, commissioning and customer demonstrations.
- Attend customer sites to provide service, repair, commissioning and technical support.
- Complete service reports and documentation accurately.
- Support continuous improvement of workshop standards and service processes.
- Work closely with the Service Manager to maximise depot performance and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a safe, organised and professional workshop environment.
- Travel throughout the UK with occasional overnight stays as required.

The Person
We are looking for a practical engineer who enjoys working on equipment, solving technical challenges and supporting the development of others.
You will ideally have:
- A strong mechanical engineering background.
- Experience working with pumps, hydraulics, diesel engines, industrial machinery or plant equipment.
- Proven fault-finding and repair experience.
- The ability to supervise and support junior engineers or apprentices.
- A positive, hands-on attitude and willingness to lead from the front.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- A focus on quality, safety and customer service.
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of your workload.
- Good communication skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
