Service Team Leader
Checkout Team Leader - Team Leadership Role

About the Role
As a Checkout Team Leader, you’ll be pivotal in driving our service performance forward for our customers. This is your opportunity to lead with confidence, innovation, and a focus on delivering exceptional customer experience across our front-end service operations.
Key Responsibilities
Side-by-side with your Team Leadership duties, you’ll be expected to:

Act as a visible support presence
- Use headsets to assist colleagues and customers efficiently at checkouts.
- Ensure smooth and quick purchase processes for customers.

Create a customer-centric culture
- Foster a team that delivers outstanding, friendly, and helpful service.
- Encourage colleagues to think creatively — prioritising customers in everything they do while allowing them autonomy to contribute ideas.

Drive team performance and engagement
- Develop a supportive and performance-driven environment where effort is recognised and celebrated.
- Propel team growth by confidently sharing data-driven decisions to optimise the front-end experience.
- Conduct thorough root cause analyses of issues to develop actionable strategies and implement immediate improvements.

Establish and enforce policies
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and legal obligations, including cash handling and cashless transactions.

Streamline operational workflows
- Oversee coordination and communication within the front-end team (including cash, petrol stations, kiosks, customer service desks, trolleys, and car park areas).
- Resolve colleague queries promptly and effectively.
- Minimise waste and ensure put-back delegation is managed efficiently.

Analytical & leadership tasks
- Interpret data from various dashboards and reports to inform impactful decisions.

About You
Ideal candidates are those who reflect the following qualities:
- The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and customers alike.
- Experience developing and leading teams, with an emphasis on coaching for competence and confidence to enable high performance.
- Strong understanding of operational and technical functions within the service department.
- Proven ability to plan, organise, and manage workloads for self and team members while meeting strict deadlines.
